About Searching in Databases

Welcome!

After completing this module, you will be able to:

  • identify what a database is and how it is structured.
  • use database functionality to locate information.

Let’s get started! Databases are organized, searchable collections of information. Databases often have different goals. For example, Google and Amazon are databases that help you locate information and find items to buy, respectively. Library databases include many different types of information and have tools to help you find what you need. This module will tell you more about library databases that you can use to conduct research.
