Recommendation: Start with Finding News from an African Press
- Open Newsbank: Access World News.
- Scroll down to the map under "Refine by Source Location". On the map, click on "Africa". *At this point, you could even narrow down to a more specific country in Africa.
- Enter your search terms. *You may need to scroll back up.
- Sample Search: (migration OR immigration OR mobility) AND Africa
- Note: Personally, I like to change the field to Lead/First Paragraph for one of my main concepts.

- At the search results page, change your Sort default. Under "Sort By", click "Best Match".
- Narrow by Date by entering years under Date Search and click "Apply". Or, use the slider under Date selector and click "Apply".
- Skim news titles and excerpts.
- Click on a title to read the full news article.
- Use icons at the top of the article to create a citation, download the PDF, or save a permalink.
Strategy: Locate News from Western Presses
- Open Newsbank: Access World News.
- Scroll down to the blue buttons. Select “Major Metro Titles” (blue button). *I am using this to get U.S. coverage. You could also select "North America" on the map.
- Scroll back up, and enter your search terms. If you already located an article from an African press, these keywords will be related to that article.
- Sample Search: ("East Africa" OR Kenya) AND "brain drain" AND health

- At the search results page, change your Sort default. Under "Sort By", click "Best Match".
- Narrow by Date by entering years under Date Search and click "Apply". Or, use the slider under Date selector and click "Apply".
- Skim news titles and excerpts.
- Click on a title to read the full news article.
- Use icons at the top of the article to create a citation, download the PDF, or save a permalink.
