Once you have installed Mendeley Cite, you are ready to add citations to documents in MS Word, Word Online or Word 365. To insert a citation, go to the References tab, and open Mendeley Cite (located on the far right of this toolbar.)
Place your cursor where you want the citation.
Search for or navigate to the citation(s) you wish to use. Select the citation(s) and click Insert.
Change the citation style by going into the Citation Style tab within Mendeley Cite. If you do not see your preferred style listed, click Select another style.
From the Select another style options, search for a preferred style or add a custom style. See instructions for Modifying & Creating Citation Styles.
Create a Bibliography
Under the More menu in Mendeley Cite, select Insert Bibliography. Do this after adding at least one citation.
Note: You may want to do this step at the end of your writing process. Mendeley should update your bibliography as you add in-text citations, however this function can be glitchy.
