PDF Viewer: Annotation Tools

Mendeley Web and Reference Manager for Desktop allow you to view and annotate PDFs from your library. Double click on the reference you wish to view or click on the PDF icon to open the document in the PDF viewer.

In the PDF Viewer you can:

  • Search within the text of the document (using search box/magnifying glass in upper right of toolbar) and view the highlighted search terms
  • Highlight text in the document
  • Add comments within the the text. Comments can be viewed in the Annotations tab (next to the Info tab in the right hand pane). Comments and highlighted areas are saved with the pdf in your Library.

Notebook Tool: Record & Share Notes on Resources or Collections

The Notebook tool records, stores, and allows you to share your notes pertaining to a reference, group of reference, or a collection. This tool is not pdf or resource specific.

Access by clicking on Notebook, found at the top left of the screen, or in the details pane next to Annotations. Add more pages to your notebook by clicking on + New page at the bottom of the Notebook pane.
