Outcomes

Course Learning Outcome:  Demonstrate information literacy and be able to work with evidence

Goal:  Show the value of generating keywords for searching from background reading.

Specifically, students will be able to

  • Access an article on a topic of interest from a reference source (in CREDO)
  • Extract keywords from reading

For Instructors - Accessing Student Participation

After each quiz, students can email the results to themselves and to you.  Instructions are available in the tutorial. 

There are a couple ways to look for participation.

Email:

The email will come from admin and will start with the subject Certificate of completion ... Please check your spam folder for the email or search for "certificate of completion" in your email. 

Screenshot:

Students take a screenshot of their tutorial results and send that to you as proof of completion.  They could also upload that screenshot to Canvas.

Student complete CREDO tutorial independently or together as a class. (See below.)

Use CREDO for background research.  Use graphic organizer template(s) to record key words related to research question. (See box at right.)

Using Credo Reference Tutorial

Instructions:

1. Connect to the campus network via the VPN if you are off-campus.  You will need this connection to access one or more library databases while taking the tutorial.

2. Take the short quiz at the end of the tutorial.  Enter your email address AND your professor's email address. Afterwards locate the email confirmation. These emails often go to your SPAM folder, so be sure to check there.  It is often easiest to search in your email account for the phrase "Certificate of completion" to find your email confirmation.

3. You are ready! Click on the link below to start the tutorial. Follow the instructions on the left hand of the screen and, as directed, complete activities in the main screen (right).
