How do Hmong immigrant/refugee communities and families negotiate kinship, marriage, gender and family structures in the US?

Sample Searches:

  2. Hmong AND (immigrant* OR refugee*) AND (marriage OR gender OR family OR kinship)
  3. Hmong AND (west OR “united states” OR US) AND (family OR gender)

Questions:

  • What kind of search strategies did I use?

How are families dealing with fathers who travel back to Southeast Asia in order to marry or date young Hmong women (negotiating transnational and polygamous marriage practices)?
