Methodology Limiters

The following are some examples of databases that allow you to filter results by original (empirical) and review articles. Not every database will have this option.

PsycInfo & PsycArticles (ProQuest Databases)

  • Use the Methodology limiter to narrow to empirical study (original research).
  • You may also want to try clinical case study, clinical trial, or treatment outcome depending on your topic.

  • Use the Methodology limiter to narrow to literature review.
  • You may also want to try systematic review or meta analysis.

Google Scholar

  • To find review articles, enter your search terms AND review.
    • Example: sleep AND college AND review
  • Look at article to make sure it is a review.
  • When a PDF is not available, click More to see the UC-eLinks button.
