Database Practice

In this activity, you will be working in your groups. You will have a total of ten (10) minutes to do this activity.

  1. Choose one person to be the "scribe" who will type your group responses (1 minute)
  2. Choose a team name (1 minute)
  3. Chose a topic to search for information about. If you can't think of something quickly, use a sample topic from this guide (2 minutes)
  4. Do a search in Sociological Abstracts & do the same search in Google Scholar, have your scribe answer the questions in this form (6 minutes)
    • Remember, to access library databases, find them on the library website (library.ucmerced.edu) by going to the Databases A-Z List or look under "Step 3" of this guide for a subpage called Databases. From off campus, you must be on the VPN to access these databases.
