  • Find and correct citations in ASA style
  • Get more help when needed!

These skills and resources will set the foundation for both your qualitative and quantitative projects. 

Session Outline

This is the outline for the library session on 9/7/2023:

  1. Connect to campus by downloading & installing the VPN  (10 min)
    1. Visit VPN Installation Guides (OIT)
  2. Searching & using UC Library Search
    1. Your account
    2. Use search filters to narrow your search (search efficiently and strategically)
  3. How to locate the full text of an article 
    1. Using Google Scholar and Using UC Library Search -- Hint, see tips in this guide for searching for a known item
    2. When you can't find it, use Get It at UC or Interlibrary Loan (ILL) at no cost to get it from another library in our network
  4. Strategies for reading and identifying different parts of an empirical journal article
    1. Video Identifying Empirical Articles (Video Tutorial)
    2. Anatomy of a Scholarly Article (Interactive tutorial)
  5.  Cite using ASA style
    1. Find a citation generated by a database or other search tool
    2. Correct the citation by checking it against the Purdue OWL website
