Using the Library's Book Scanners

Video Walkthrough

This short video will show you how to operate the overhead book scanner. 

These scanners can scan all kinds of documents but are designed primarily for books. 

Printers in the Library can also be used to scan and e-mail documents.

Step-by-step Guide

  1. First tap the screen to wake up the machine you’ll see a list of possible languages.
  2. Select the one that works best for you tap that button.
  3. You’ll see the copyright notification. Please read through it and then select I agree.
  4. Now we’re looking at resolution options 150 DPI for most cases in the file sizes will be smaller.
  5. You’re ready to scan, you’ll see a list of options on the right hand side of the screen. You can play with those to see which ones work best for you, although default options work best for most people.
  6. Put your item on the scanning deck and initiate your scan by hitting the green button or the green strip on the scanning deck.
  7. Once you scan an item, a preview will appear on the touchscreen.
  8. You can adjust these images by resizing the red boxes on the screen. Then add them to your "cart" once you're happy.
  9. When you've scanned everything that you want to, click the "cart" icon.
  10. You can send the files to yourself via email or upload them to a USB thumbstick. If you choose e-mail, we recommend doing this in small batches (10-12 pages). The USB ports are located on the front of the machine.
  11. Once you’re done and you have your scans just click the log button the upper right hand of the screen.
