Finding, Researching, and Using Primary Resources

Using Our Collections

The UC Merced Library Archives and Special Collections collects, preserves, and provides access to unique records, rare books, manuscripts, audiovisual material, cartographic material, ephemera, digital files, and other primary source materials to advance knowledge of UC Merced, the San Joaquin Valley, and the Sierra Nevada regions, and to support the teaching, research, and public service mission of the University.

Digital Collections

We have digitized thousands of items from our collections.  We have made these digital copies freely accessible online. Our digital collections cover a wide variety of topics, such as California water resources, Agriculture Records, Labor, Architectural records, and so much more.

You can find all our digital items located at UC Merced's Calisphre.

Analog Collections

Our physical collections are available for on-site research to students, independent researchers, faculty, and the general public. Researchers can explore the contents of our physical holdings by browsing the finding aids to our collections at the Online Archive of California prior to requesting access to materials. Additionally, we attempt to digitize our collections in their entirety in order to provide the widest possible access.

Search our Finding Aids

We host all our finding aids to our collections on the website, Online Archives of California.  Below is a search widget that allows you to search all our collection directly:
