Public Health 208A - Professional Skills (Crawford, Fall 2024)

A guide to library resources

Introductions

Hello! I'm Olivia Olivares, Instruction & Outreach Librarian and Library liaison to the Public Health program at UC Merced. You can always contact me (contact info on the left side of this page) for assistance with research, questions about library resources and services, and other useful information. [It's not part of my official work, but you can also contact me for good horror movie recommendations if you need something to do on the weekend (!).]

Session goals

By the end of this session, you should be able to:

  • Use databases with significant Public Health content like PubMed and Web of Science to find relevant information for research assignments;
  • understand literature reviews -- their purpose, construction, and use;
  • choose a citation manager tool for use with research projects; and
  • Contact Olivia or another librarian for help.
