UC Merced Library's Introduction to APA Style Tutorial

This tutorial is a brief introduction to the practices of attribution, citation, and APA 7th style. It should take you approximately 10 minutes.

This tutorial is intended as an introduction to APA style only. APA style is more fully explained in the APA Publication Manual, which you can find at:

Learning Objectives

As a result of completing this tutorial, you should be able to:

  • Distinguish between attribution and citation
  • Identify why we as scholars and students cite the work of others
  • Recognize the main parts of an APA 7th edition reference for journal articlesbooks, and edited book chapters

During the Tutorial

You will receive feedback on the interactive questions as you go through the tutorial. After receiving feedback, you will have to click "Next Slide" button a second time to advance to the next screen. We hope this tutorial helps you become more familiar with these topics!
