Introduction to Library Research

In Writing 001, you are often encouraged or required to find information for your assignments. In addition, you may need to complete library research for additional courses you are taking.

The Library Tour is a first step to learning more about the UC Merced Library's space, services, and resources. The tour introduces you to Melvyl, an online catalog which shows you many books, articles, and resources available at UC Merced and libraries worldwide.

The purpose of this guide is to build on the knowledge you acquired from the Library Tour and to provide you with ideas and guidance for additional library research as a university student.

Much of this guide is based on content created by librarians at the William H.Hannon Library at Loyola Marymount University.  Many thanks for their willingness to share their work.  View the original award-winning guide
