Instructions:
You will have 8 minutes to do this activity, 7 minutes + a 1-minute reminder before the breakout room closes.
- With your assigned group (breakout room group number), choose a team name (1 minute)
- Choose a team "scribe" who will type the group's responses into the spreadsheet (pick only one because having multiple people editing an Excel doc can be tricky) (1 minute)
- Open your team's article and skim through it. You do not need to read the whole article! (2-3 minutes)
- Based on what you can see of the article, discuss these questions with your group to arrive at a shared response: (3 minutes)
- What is the article about?
- What types of questions can the article answer? (Ask yourself: what is the article attempting to learn about? Who is its subject?)
- What type of article is this (review or research)? How can you tell?
- Do you have any questions about this article from your brief skim?
