The Schools and Staffing Survey (SASS) was conducted by NCES seven times between 1987 through 2011.A survey of the characteristics and conditions of America's public and private schools and the teachers and principals who work in them.
The National Household Education Surveys Program (NHES), the flagship household survey program of the National Center for Education Statistics, collects nationally representative, descriptive data on the educational activities of children and families in the United States. NHES surveys are conducted every three to four years, on various topics. The current NHES topics are early childhood care and education, family involvement in schools, and homeschooling. These data may be used to analyze trends over time. The most recent NHES administration ended in August 2023.
IPEDS is a system of surveys designed to collect data from all primary providers of postsecondary education. Study components include earned degrees/completions, fall enrollment, staff, finance, institutional characteristics, salaries, tenure, and fringe benefits of full-time instructional faculty.
Monitoring the Future is an ongoing study of the behaviors, attitudes, and values of American secondary school students, college students, and young adults. Each year, a total of some 50,000 8th, 10th and 12th grade students are surveyed. A number of questions on drug use are asked.
The National Longitudinal Surveys of Child and Youth Adult Data Overview is designed to document the transition from school to work and into adulthood. They collect extensive information about youths' labor market behavior and educational experiences over time.
SESTAT is the Scientists and Engineers Statistical Data System. SESTAT was established in 1993 and comprised of three workforce surveys from the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics within the U.S. National Science Foundation. This integrated data system is a unique source of longitudinal information on the education and employment of the college-educated U.S. science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce. It was integrated through 2013.
