By the end of the session, students should:
- have a thorough knowledge of the major types of resources:
- primary, secondary, and tertiary sources,
- scholarly/academic, trade, and popular journal articles, and
- the appropriate uses of each kind of resource.
- know how to find appropriate databases,
- know how to use the databases to best advantage, including how to locate and use advanced tools like the thesaurus or list of official subject terms,
- know where to find information on citation formatting, including retrieving citations from UC Library Search and databases, and
- know how to contact a librarian for additional assistance.
