USTU 10 (Delgadillo): Why the Library?

Introduction to Undergraduate Studies

UC Merced Library Mission

In keeping with the University’s mission of teaching, research and service, the mission of the UC Merced Library is to achieve excellence by meeting the diverse research, teaching and public service needs of UC Merced researchers (students, faculty and staff) with targeted, quality collections and relevant services that effectively and efficiently support the research life-cycle of finding, using, creating and managing information.

Library Databases

Library databases provide access to more academic content than what you can find in Google. In many of your courses, you will be asked to use scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles. While you can find some for free online, many of these are only available via subscriptions.

Access Library Resources from Off Campus

The VPN allows you to connect to the library's online articles and eBooks from off campus.

Visit library.ucmerced.edu/use/technology/vpn to download the VPN.
