Conference Proceeding: A collection of academic papers that are gathered into a book post-conference especially in the fields of science and engineering. These academic papers may be referred to as manuscripts, documents, papers, extended abstracts etc. They are often shorter in length that a standard journal article and may (or may not) ever be published in a journal.
Conference proceedings provide a way for researchers to share their results more quickly than through journal publication. For some fields, e.g. computer science, conference proceedings are considered more important than journal publications.
Though these papers may go through a review process prior to publication, they may not be considered peer reviewed.
