The Zero-Cost Course Materials Grant is a collaboration between the UC Merced Library and the Center for Engaged Teaching and Learning to support the adoption of Open Educational Resources and use of UC Merced Library licensed electronic resources to reduce textbook and learning materials costs to $0. The aim of this initiative is to boost student success by removing some of the financial barriers preventing students from obtaining needed educational materials.
UC Merced ladder-rank faculty members, lecturers with security of employment (LSOEs), lecturers with the potential for security of employment (LPSOEs), Unit 18 continuing lecturers, and Unit 18 lecturers are invited to apply for one of the following awards for replacing commercial materials with zero-cost resources in an undergraduate or graduate course taking place during the Fall 2019 or Spring 2020 semesters.
The Zero-Cost Course Materials Grant is a 3-year pilot program and started in 2018-2019.
