Depending on your topic, you may need to include include a mix of popular and scholarly sources.

For example, you may find a newspaper article about Ian Brady, and then pair it with a scholarly article about hedonism and violence. This page has information about how to find newspaper articles and more popular sources to get background information on specific people and crimes.

Finding Newspaper & Magazine Articles in Academic Search Complete

Conduct a search in Academic Search Complete.

Then, on the left, narrow down to see only results from newspapers and magazines (see below):

To search for newspaper articles, open the Newsbank database.

You can conduct a search using the fields in the middle of the screen, or scroll down to search for types of newspapers. You can search for papers by:

  • California papers
  • LA papers
  • Major metropolitan papers
  • US papers

Click on one of these options to search for local news.
