Writing 105 (Downey): What is a Database?

Grammar & Style

Academic Search Complete

The library's databases search multiple sources, including newspapers, magazines, & scholarly journals, through one interface. Much of the content is not available online for free if you looked on Google. Some databases are:

  • subject-specific: databases focused on education, for example, index (an index directs or points to the location of a word, phrase, citation, etc.) publications in education and subject areas related to education.
  • multi-disciplinary: databases that have information on multiple subjects.

Find all of the library's databases by subject here. Some pre-selected databases can be found on the Article Databases tab in this guide.
