Writing 100 (Zanzucchi): #3 Search Strategies

Challenge #3

Some topics are trickier than others.

Are there other search strategies I can use.

Topic: "literature reviews in psychology"

How do I obtain information about literature reviews rather than actual literature reviews?

Search Tips

Proximity search.

Phrase searching " ", use quotation marks to search for a phrase e.g. "written communication", "literature review", "writing a literature review"

Use specific fields when searching. e.g. limit to a Title field, or an Abstract.

Use truncation * to look for end variation on a word e.g. engineer* = engineer, engineers, engineering etc.

AND to join dissimilar term e.g. "technical writing" AND engineer*

OR to join similar terms e.g. "science writing" OR "writing in the sciences"
