Locating news outlet ownership

To find ownership of a particular news outlet or company, use Nexis Uni's Company Dossier.

  1. Click "Menu" at the top left of the Nexis Uni main webpage. Choose "Company Dossier."
  2. Enter the name of a newspaper, news channel or other media outlet. Let's look for the owner of KGPE, a TV channel in Fresno, California.

  3. When we look for KGPE, we find two companies. The one based in the USA is obviously the one we want. But you can also check the address to be sure that this is the company you're looking for.

  4. By clicking the company name, we learn that the parent company (owner) of KGPE-TV is Nexstar Media Group, Inc., and we can click that company's name to learn more about it. To the side, there are links to an overview of KGPE-TV, additional information about the company, news, and other useful information.
