Identifying and Locating Empirical Articles

Locating Empirical Articles

You can use many library databases to find empirical articles.

In PsycINFO, enter your search terms and then click the box next to “Empirical Study” under Methodology (scroll down the page to find it). Then click “Search.”

In ScienceDirect, look for articles labeled “Research Article.”

In other databases, use the “Peer Reviewed” or Scholarly article limiter, and then look for articles that don’t appear to be reviews. (Frequently, review articles will include the word review in the title.)
