What is Google Scholar?

Google Scholar allows you to search for scholarly articles, patents, legal documents, theses, and more.

Using Google Scholar

In order to use Google Scholar's resources to their full potential as a UC Merced student, make sure you have first installed the VPN (click here for instructions) so you can access library resources from home.

  1. Type in your search terms.
  2. Click on the dropdown menu next to the word "More" under search results.
  3. Select "UC-eLinks" to check library holdings for the item.

4. If you need a citation, click on "Cite." A box like this will appear:

Copy and paste the applicable citation, or import the reference into the citation manager listed. UC Merced subscribes to RefWorks, so you can use it for free.

Use It!

Search Google Scholar to access many journal articles made available to you by the UC Merced Library.
